Bubble Mailer Day

I finally got around to opening the package that was in my mailbox on Saturday, and it was glorious! It was a lot of 29 Yankee Stadium Legacy cards I got on eBay for a whole $18.99 and free shipping. Sweet! The 29 cards are all from the 2008 Sweet Spot set, which is perfect because I only opened 2 boxes and the odds for doubles were slim to none.

I opened up the box, and there they were... all crisp and neat just waiting to join their friends in Beckett and the YSL box here. I logged all of them in, and only got one double in the lot which made me very happy.

More importantly, my total is now 860 cards. I still haven't picked up any 2009 Upper Deck to check out a new game, but I will eventually. If anyone has some for trade please let me know.

I'm up to 860/6742 cards (that includes all this years cards), which means 1,000 by the end of the year is very possible.

  1. I have been shot at and have been close to being blown up a bunch of times but I am truly intimidated by this set. The sheer volume of these cards has given me pause. I flirted with the idea with my girlfriend last year when we first ripped open some Upper Deck packs but then we noticed the amount of cards. There are just too many of them. However, they are still the best idea a card company has come up with bar none. Good luck with that set. I am still thinking about trying to do the same thing, maybe one day I will just go all out and begin to fill out my set.

  2. I've got between 20 and 40 of the YSL cards laying around. I collect George Brett and crrnt Royals and Vikings. Give me an offer I they're yours!!

  3. What do you plan to do with a 6000+ card set when you're done? Does it sit in a box? Put into 350 9-pocket sheets? Wallpaper your bedroom? I have enough trouble properly utilizing the 50-100 card Red Sox sets that have come out the last few years.

  4. What kind of utilization do you expect to get out of baseball cards?

I am collecting these in the same way we all collect anything else - because I like them. I may put them in binders, but for now they are in a box.

  5. Got any more doubles for me? I found a few more for you. I'll have to go through them and send you a list.

  6. I guess utilize was the wrong word. I meant enjoy. I just wondered if after all that effort you'd have them displayed...like in a binder...or in a box. Whenever I complete a sety by hand, I usually like to throw it in a binder to flip through every once in a while. A 6000+ card set makes that tough though.

  7. I don't about Marie, but I throw mine in binders as well.

A 6,000-card set is going to take a lot of thinkings and probably a lot of storage. I think she has the space though.

  8. Section 36 - didn't mean to get snippy with you, lol. The whole Red Sox fan thing made me think you were being sarcastic. I really would like them in a binder, be realistically if I do ever complete this it would probably be easier stored in a box.

  9. No worries. It's been a few years since a Yankees fan was snippy with me...I was starting to miss it. :)

Besides, after the package you threw together for me, you can say whatever you'd like!
