Bubble Mailer #3

Last but not least....

Bubble Mailer #2

I know, I am overloading you with cards, and blogs today but it's fun! I love getting bubble mailers, it makes the day worth going to the mailbox.

This was my most recently received eBay purchase:

08 topps pujols gu jersey

Bubble Mailer #1: Beckett Message Board Trade

My first trade ever on the boards, and it went very well. Here's what I got:

The best part of it is obviously these were all cards I needed, and didn't have to pay for!! Well, and another good thing is that I got rid of a bunch of Red Sox cards. Yeah!!!

6 Packs of 2008 Topps Heritage

I swore off baseball cards, and as usual it lasted 24 hours. But, in my defense it was not 08 UD Series 1 or 08 Topps Jumbo's. Here are some of the cards I got, though some of these aren't worth mentioning I decided to filter them once I got lazy with the scanning.

I would also like to note how off center almost every card I got was, especially the Jeter card. I got a black back Cano, Kouzmanoff, Martinez (Pedro) others aren't worth mentioning really.

monroe, marshall, kouz

Best Pull Ever

I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

Me and Sooz were talking about this earlier today, and though many people would think I have pulled a bunch of great cards, none could compare to this one. This one wins in my collection by far.

Mariano Rivera AU RED

I have a couple of other favorites, but this is the best one.

So what do you have? Let us know your best pulls, we like talking baseball cards.

Bubble Mailer Day 02/26

Thanks to Beckett for providing me with a few missing links in my collection. And I got them all pretty cheap too, which is always a plus. Here's what I got:

This is the mini one. Not a mistake in the posting.

I love bubble mailer days.

Pack #4: ALBERT PUJOLS BASE CARD!!!! Yankee Stadium Legacy Game 2277 - Phil Rizzuto.

08 UD Albert Pujols

08 UD Yankee Stadium Legacy - Game 2277 - Phil Rizzuto

OK, so it took way more money than it should have for a $2.00 value base card of Pujols, but the ride was fun.

For $20.00 worth of hobby packs, I got everything I would have gotten from a blaster essentially. Yahoo!!!

A Pack a Day....

Keeps my wallet empty.

Just passing by BC Sports, and I went in... we all know what happened.

08 Topps Jumbo pack highlights:

Verlander 50th Anniversary, A-Rod Own the Game, Mantle Trading Card History, Colon Year in Review, and Mantle MHR 531.

I swear off Topps on a daily basis, yet I have no problem buying more. I just like opening packs.

Stay tuned for a couple of 08 UD Series One Hobby packs later tonight.

2007 Bowman Heritage Blaster Break

I tend to stash blasters in my room for when I need a quick fix. Well, I'm not really bored or in need of a fix, I just want to see what I got. One day I will pull a great card out of a blaster, not sure when but someday.

Pack #1: BHP 9, BHP 25, Chunk 216

Pack #2: BHP 37, BHP 85, Chunk 237

Pack #3: BHP 19, BHP 91, Chunk 242, Ryan Braun SP 234

Pack #8: BHP 66, BHP 92, Chunk 236

Wow! A blaster that had Pujols, and an A-Rod card. Bowman must have made a mistake in production putting them into the same box. Hooray!

All BHP's FT, except BHP 12.

Blaster Addiction

Hi, my name is Marie, and I have a baseball card addiction.

I just busted open another 08 UD Blaster from Target and I have to say I am pleased. I pulled a Roy Halladay Jersey card, 2 Yankee Stadium Legacy cards, Jeter, and Tino. The Halladay card had a crease across the D with the jersey in it, I don't know if it's from the jersey piece, or just pack damaged like most of the Starquest cards.

Yankee Stadium Legacy - Game 6077 - Derek Jeter

Yankee Stadium Legacy - Game 6052 - Tino Martinez

2008 Upper Deck Halladay Jersey Card

Starquest cards: Common- Hafner, Howard, Magglio Ordonez, Peavy, Reyes, Santana, Soriano, Thome. Un-Common David Wright, and Rare Brandon Webb.

Base bonus: Joba, Hughes, Ian Kennedy, Pettitte.

Again, all but the Yankees are available for trade or sale.

No Pujols base card. I just felt like saying it, even though you all already knew that.

I think I may be done with the blasters of the 08 UD because I bought one of the Pujols jersey cards on eBay, and I can buy the other on there as well. Perhaps a couple of hobby packs at some point, but for now I am going to wait for the Heritage boxes I pre-ordered, and maybe a blaster or two of Opening Day.

February 22, 2008

2008 UD Starquest

I just ripped a 2008 UD Series One blaster from Target, and almost every single Starquest card I got was pack damaged. The foil was chipped on all of them except the Un-Common Ichiro. Game Jersey card was Jaques Jones. I also pulled 2 Yankee Stadium Legacy cards, Game 3117 Whitey Ford, and Game 3092 Moose Skowron.

Yankee Stadium Legacy - Game 3117 - Whitey Ford

Yankee Stadium Legacy - Game 3092 - Moose Skowron

Not one Yankees base card in the box. And, of course no Pujols. The search continues.

I will try and update the blogs with scans soon.

Trading Cards

I know a lot of people trade cards on Beckett and Topps, and I would like to extend and invitation to anyone interested in trading for Pujols, Jeter, A-Rod Road to 500, Cano, Kouzmanoff, Joba, Hughes, Tabata to leave us a comment or message.

I am also currently trying to complete the 07 Mantle Heritage collection, as well has the MMS AND MHR. I have a complete set of the MMS Chrome already.

2008 Topps Series One Hobby Box, The Second...

You are probably wondering how on earth I opened another box of these cards after the news of the first box. Well, I bought both boxes as pre-sales before having any knowledge of what could be in them, or in these 2 instances, what wasn't in them.

Although there were no GU or AU's in this box, I did fairly well on the Mickey Mantle cards, and the TCH subset.

MMS 46, 47, 51
MHR 508, 509, 512, 532, 534, 535
(532, 534, 535 are for trade, I need 501, 502, 507, 510, 511, 513-524, 526-531)

Presidential cards, Obama (x2), Biden, Paul

Future Stars Kazuo Uzuki

Own The Game - Thome, Fielder, Lackey, Carmona,

Trading Card History - Mauer, Pence, Teixiera/Francouer, Justin Upton, Alfonso Soriano, Wang

Gold Cards - Miguel Tejada, Odalis Perez, Alex Rodriguez MVP, Paul Konerko, Mickey Mantle

Year in Review - Russell Martin, Manny Ramirez, Chase Utley, Jake Peavy, Hideki Matsui, Tim Lincecum

50th Anniversary Rookies - Garrett Atkins, Dan Uggla, Austin Kearns, Mark Teixera, Melky Cabrera, Brandon Webb, Derek Jeter, Prince Fielder

16 Gold Foil cards as well.

To all those who have wondered here from the Beckett and Topps Boards, most of these cards are available for trade. Yankees are excluded. Especially if anyone needs any of the gold foil cards to make a set, I have a ton of them and I have no interest in keeping them.

Upcoming Releases

For anyone who pre-ordered boxes of Topps Moments and Milestones, the date has been pushed back today from Feb. 21 to March 5th as of today. Topps Heritage is still on schedule as of right now to be released on Feb. 27

Early Morning Target Trip

I was woken up a wee bit earlier than I am currently used to today so I decided a good way to be less grumpy would be to get another US Series One Blaster. Honestly, you can't go wrong for $20 when you are guaranteed a GU Memorabilia card, and chances for Rare and Ultra Rare Starquest cards, YSL (Yankee Stadium Legacy) cards, and PP's (Presidential Predictors.

Game Used Jersey card was Jason Kubel

Ultra Rare Starquest - Travis Hafner

Super Rare Starquest - Matt Holliday

Rare Starquest - Justin Morneau

Un-Common Starquest - Magglio Ordonez

Common Starquest - Jeter, Soriano, Oritz, Ichiro, Utley, Jones, C.

Presidential Predictors - Rudy Guiliani

Yankee Stadium Legacy - Game 2219, Joe DiMaggio

Yankee Stadium Legacy - Game 2219 - Joe DiMaggio

Base Highlights: Phil Hughes, Bronson Sardinha, Posada, Santana, Mauer, Sizemore CL

I'm not going to lie, this won't be the last blaster of this set I will buy. I am hopeful that one day, I will get a Pujols or Jeter, or someone I collect on the GU card.

P.S. One hobby box, 2 Blasters, 2 Rack Packs, and roughly 6 hobby packs.... and no Pujols base card yet.

For A Snowy Day

It's been snowing for a few hours and I have a cold. So, I figured there was no better thing for me to do but go to Target and get a blaster of Upper Deck Series 1. I know it's not exciting because it's a cheap base set, but I actually like these cards this year. I enjoy getting the little inserts and the fact that the box has one game-used card in it helps out.

So here are the highlights:

Pack #1: Base: Pettitte (I'm a Yankees fan)
Starquest: Mark Teixeira, Common.

Pack #2: Base: Billy Buckner RC
Starquest: Manny Ramirez, Common

Pack #3: Base: Frank Thomas. John McCain Presidental Card.
Starquest: Matt Holliday, Rare

Pack#4: Starquest: Holliday, Common

Pack #5: Base: Season Highlights, Jimmy Rollins; Jeff Clement RC
Starquest: Albert Pujols, Common

Pack #6: Base: Chris Young (SD), Jason Giambi, Joba Chamberlain
Starquest: Carlos Lee, Common

Pack #7: Base: Prince Fielder
Yankee Legacy, Moose Skowron (Side note: I have an auto'd baseball of his) #3028
Starquest: Kenn Griffey Jr., Common

Pack #8: Starquest: Hanley Ramirez, Common

Pack #9: Base: Ken Griffey Jr.
Starquest: Michael Young, Common

Pack #10:
Starquest: Vlad Guerrero, Common
GU - Ben Sheets jersey ... uh, i already got this one yesterday.

That sucked. I shoulda stayed home.

08 Upper Deck Blaster

Blaster Break:

Starquest Common - Grady Sizemore, Justin Morneau, Frank Thomas, A-Rod (which is pack damaged), Matt Holliday, David Wright, Prince Fielder, Albert Pujols (!!), Carlos Lee

Starquest Un-Common - Jim Thome

UD Jersey - Mike Sweeney

Yankee Stadium Legacy - Game 2244 Johnny Mize, and Game 2269

Presidential Predictors - John Edwards

I also picked up 2 rack packs just for the Hot Commodities, and I got Pujols, Lincecum, Jeter, and Verlander. In those rack packs I got Yankee Stadium Legacy Game 3083 - Roger Marie, and Game 5248 - Jim Leyritz.

Overall, I think the UD blasters are well worth the $20 bucks considering you are guaranteed a GU card, and you get a bunch of other cool inserts.

Anyone looking to get rid of some Yankee Stadium Legacy cards, drop us a line.

Random Baseball card thoughts

I'm still extremely pissed off about last nights box break. I decided to hit the local Target's today to see if they had any Upper Deck blasters, and still nothing. No rack packs, no packs, no blasters, and no fun. I've seen a couple on eBay, but not many. I am wondering where they all are, because I desperately need one.

I am toying with the idea of running to BC Sports right now to open a few packs. At the same time, I am also trying to talk myself out of it.

Anyone out there know if their local Target has any 2008 blasters in yet? I need a fix, help me out.

2008 Topps Hobby Box Break

WARNING!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! This was the absolute worst box I have ever opened in my life. I am so disappointed a pissed off. There were no AU's or GU's in the box. There were also no black cards.

I did get a few cards that I collect which was great, but still did not make the break as fun as others.

Own The Game: Peavy, Miguel Cabrera, Vlad, Pena, Holliday, Howard

Year in Review: Furcal, Rnady Johnson, Lewis, Colon, Kent, Delmon Young

Trading Card History: Chamberlain, Dice-K, A-Rod, Fielder, Buchholz, Mantle

50th Anniversary: Pujols, Jeter, Andruw Jones, Sabathia, Dan Johnson, Swoboda, Dawson, Soriano

Mickey Mantle Story: 52, 53

Mantle Homerun: 532, 533, 534, 535

Gold Cards: Torrealba, Buckner, Haren, Sardinha

Gold Foil: 18 cards

Presidential Candidates: Edwards, Thompson, Clinton, Biden

Red Sox Guiliani Error and Regular Card

Now with that all said, Topps can go to hell. Inevitably I will buy Topps cards later in the year. I will not buy anymore hobby packs from Series One.

I'm fuming mad right now, and this box was a waste of 20 minutes of my life. Do yourself a favor, save your money for a better box to come out.

February 16, 2008

Thanks Sooz

The two of us together are dangerous. She goes and does some research and finds a super rare error card, and it wound up costing me $20. I know it's not her fault, but I have a problem that I have yet to figure out. I am either allergic to money, or addicted to opening packs like its crack.

4 packs of Upper Deck got me the following today at BC Sports:
-Game Jersey Card, C.C. Sabathia
2008 ud gu sabathia
-O-Pee-Chee Carlos Pena
2008 ud opc pena
-Presidential Predictors, Al Gore (awesome card)
2008 ud pp gore
-Presidential Predictors, Fred Thompson
2008 ud pp thompson

I did also finally get a Jeter base card, yet still no Pujols. $100+ and counting to get Pujols.

Upper Deck's Clinton Blunder

Upper Deck had a clever idea when it came to its political cards. Rather than just have a regular photo giving card lovers a regular card, Upper Deck produced illustrated parodies of the nominees. Most were funny, except one.

Upper Deck didn't think about it until the cards were already in the packs, how a picture depicting Hillary Clinton as Morganna, The Kissing Bandit would be offensive. I get that there are no women in MLB, but what about women who played baseball. A League of Their Own is a popular movie, it's not as though no one would have thought of it.

This card is rarer than the other presidential cards (1 in 8 packs) because after printing some felt the card would be offensive. So they pulled the card manually from packs, but some cards have made it into circulation. These cards are fetching a hefty price tage. We're talking four figures here -- $1,500-plus.

Upper Deck plans to have another Clinton for Series II in May. With the way Obama has taken over, who knows if she is going to still be a candidate.

The one I would like to get is Rudy Giuliani playing the role of Jeffrey Maier.

2008 Upper Deck Series One Break

I'm annoyed at Upper Deck because they never give me anything good in hobby boxes. Someone might think I got something good here, but I don't. The auto isn't half bad, and I got a couple of good base cards, just not the only one I wanted- Pujols.

Here's a quick list of what I got:
-Hong-Chih Kuo Game Jersey
2008 ud gu kuo
-Justin Duchscherer UD Jersey
2008 ud gu duchscherer
-Ryan Theriot Inkredible
2008 ud inkredible theriot

-Yankee Stadium Legacy Game 2122, Joe DiMaggio
2008 ud ysl 2122
-Yankee Stadium Legacy Game 2147, Johnny Mize
2008 ud ysl 2147
-Yankee Stadium Legacy Game 2172, Joe DiMaggio
2008 ud ysl 2172
-Yankee Stadium Legacy Game 2197, Allie Reynolds
2008 ud ysl 2197

-Julian Tavarez Gold card 42/99

-John Edwards
2008 ud pp edwards

-John McCain
2008 ud pp mccain

-O-Pee-Chee Jason Bay
-O-Pee-Chee Gary Sheffield
-O-Pee-Chee David Wright
-O-Pee-Chee Edgar Renteria
-O-Pee-Chee Ichiro
-O-Pee-Chee Eric Bedard
-O-Pee-Chee Hanley Ramirez

Base notables: Posada, Melky Cabrera, Ian Kennedy, Philip Hughes, Dice-K, Buchholz, Hochevar, Votto, Ichiro, Vlad, PUJOLS CHECKLIST, A-ROD CHECKLIST. A whole hobby box, and all I got of those 2 were checklists. Yawn.
