Time to look past Strasburg

With all the hype surrounding Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg, it's easy to look past other rookies who made their debut around the same time. Some of them are performing well and deserve of our attention here at A Cardboard Problem.

Just because they aren't in 2010 Bowman (at least not selling as well as Strasburg) doesn't mean we should ignore them. (For the record, we've already talked about Jason Heyward, Ike Davis and Austin Jackson.)

Andrew Cashner - Cashner was a starter in the Minors, but right before his call up he was moved to the bullpen. There aren't many relievers whose cards do well. There are very few exceptions, so this move probably hurt the value of his cards. In four relief appearances with the Cubs, Cashner has four strikeouts and no walks in five innings.

Buster Posey - Posey made his 2010 debut (he played several games last year) on May 29. The catcher is having an impressive run through his first 13 games. He is hitting .429 with a homer and 7 RBI.

Mike Stanton - He had the unfortunate timing (from a fan perspective) of making his debut the same night as Strasburg, but the lack of media attention probably helped the kid out. He has five hits in three games with two RBI.
