Sweet mail day

Today I got a bunch of mail, it was the first time I have been to my mail box in days so be patient if you sent something I am slowly opening it all today and tomorrow. I had my first exam today and I have another quiz tomorrow. I'm doing my best to stop in to keep everyone posted on things.

I had stopped over at Crackin Wax and noticed a sweet card from the 2009 Topps Series 2, and it is probably one of the few cards I actually wanted from the set. I left topher a comment more or less offering an unborn child or my soul for it despite the fact that it is a manufactured item and Pujols has never even laid eyes on it. I still love it. topher was kind enough to ship it out to me without telling me and it was the best part of my day today, well this and my twist from DQ.

My pictures are not as nice as how topher does his blog, but I make do. If you get a chance and you haven't stopped by Crackin Wax, you need to do it. He does a great job with the blog and with the pictures. OK, you guys go read that and I am going to study some more and come back later perhaps with another envelope that I am dying to open. 2009 Topps Series 2 Blaster

If anyone has been wondering what they might get if they bought one of these, here is your chance to find out. I wasn't terribly thrilled with it, but I also didn't really expect much from it so no harm, no foul.

I was going to pick out some base cards to scan, but I am lazy and you've all seen them already anyway. Hey, at least I'm honest. I am just showing you the inserts that are in there so you can get an idea of the ratio, or if there really is that much of a difference between just buying packs versus the blaster (aside from the machine made patch cards). So without anymore rambling here are the goods, which are all for trade except the Sizemore because I kinda like it.

Oh, and Toppstown the dumbest cards of all. I got 2 of each of the following: Prince Fielder, Jimmy Rollins, Carlos Lee and Alex Rios. One Joe Mauer, and one Carlos Lee Gold. I am not a fan of these cards at all, and the fact that I got a box of doubles was even more annoying.

I had picked this blaster over a Goudey because I wanted to see what was in there since I had already opened some Goudey blasters. I probably should have skipped this one. All my hard work car washing to get owned by Topps in the end. Typical. However, perhaps someone out there (ahem, topher) would be willing to take my Gwynn card and some other stuff for a trade of their machine made Pujols patch. (Pretty please with a cherry on top.)

2009 Topps retail (it's boring)

Let me start by saying I had no hopes of anything great for two reasons, 1. the Goudey packs I opened, and 2. because it's Topps retail. So I am not disappointed by the packs.

To go along with Sooz's last blog about bad photography, I scanned three more examples.


We know the first one is Kouz because of his shirt, not that this couldn't have been some dude playing softball down the road (poor Sooz). Next, Nelson Cruz eating dirt. Glad I don't collect him. Then David DeJesus, or is it.... ???

Here were the "hits" if you will.






I am looking at these scans now realizing I missed sending some cards in packages today. Oh well, they will go out next time.

I am also too lazy to look on Beckett and it keeps forcing Firefox to restart, but if there is a blue Pujols ToppsTown please send me one (yes, that means you). I like blue, and I like Albert so that will work out quite well.

If anyone is looking to finish off Series 2 and needs cards, almost all my base cards are available for trade.

I am watching the O's/Tigers game right now and one of the announcers had no idea that Wieters was being brought up tomorrow. Why do I know that and they don't? I can watch lots and lots of baseball and not get bored. I will probably watch the Dodgers soon and I am hoping that I get the L.A. broadcast so I can listen to Scully.
