eBay bargain

Sometimes you can find something on eBay that makes you want to do a jig, and then there are the other times when you want to choke the person selling a card for thinking it's worth $8,000. I was searching just randomly for 2010 Topps Finest last week, and when you find someone who s$2.15 for unlimited cards it tends to make you flip through their store.

I discovered this gem for $1.99 and how could I not steal it.

An Adam Lind gold refractor /50, for $1.99 thanks so much.

This is the only gold refractor I have of Lind, it was a cool card to get in the mail and fin to add to a page of cards that are all the same just different colors and serial numbers.

Sometimes I find it overwhelming when cards are released in 3908 colors, but when you get close to getting all of them it looks pretty cool.... even if its years after they were released. If for some reason someone has the 2010 Finest Adam Lind, Robinson Cano /99 or /50 or any of the Albert Pujols serial numbered cards please e-mail me if they are available.

Adam Lind PC additions

I am still working on 2007. There I said it, I am 3 years behind in finishing some projects. However, in my defense I collect Albert freakin' Pujols so do the math. Slowly but surely I will finish my rainbow of Lind cards, and I think right now I am only missing 2 of this particular card, the one /25 and /200. There is a random tri-sig from this set /27 I have only seen once also, but was too much money.

I also have a bunch of cards that I had scanned and haven't gotten around to blogging about yet, but I will. Especially the nice package I got from Todd at Wax Pack Relapse.

Closer to the pot of gold

I tried to be clever with my headline, not sure it really worked, but I'm getting closer to completing the 2008 Upper Deck Heroes rainbow with Kevin Kouzmanoff.

For all my collections, I usually don't put anything numbered under /10 on my want list. I want all the cards, but I am not crazy enough to go after a 1/1 so I can complete my set. However, if I see a card that is numbered low, I will still go after it and think of it as a bonus to my collection. I actually have a number of Kouzmanoff 1/1 for this reason.

On eBay, I recently picked up (and by recent, this probably means about three months ago) a Kouzmanoff UD Heroes jersey card I was missing.

There are 28 different cards on my Kouz UD Heroes watch list.

Twenty eight.

That's a lot of cards (not YSL a lot) to chase. Right now, I need 11 more. What's funny is that I've amassed this pile of bubble mailers over the last several months and haven't updated my wants lists yet. I could actually have more of these Heroes cards and just forgot that they're in there.

As I slowly get through the process, you'll get to see all my brand new, shiny cards.

2009: Pujols collection boosted

At the beginning of 2009 I wanted to try and get to 1,000 unique Pujols cards in my PC despite knowing that was a long shot, and would be quite an amazing feat. I believe I started the year around 349 cards or so, which wasn't terrible but was still missing around 65,000 cards according to Beckett (I really hope I'm exaggerating, I don't know how many off the top of my head).

I have just finished logging in all the Pujols cards that have been sitting on my desk, and I have 764 unique Pujols cards to close out 2009. This year has been plentiful for my single card purchases, and terrible for hobby box breaks but it worked out much better. I really think I will continue to steer clear of hobby boxes for the most part in 2010 and use that money to buy single cards for my PC. It is so rare to pull a Pujols autograph that it's almost stupid to waste money trying.

All in all, it was a very good year for me and Albert and I look forward to breaking the 1,000 card mark this year. Thanks to everyone who has traded with me this year, and sent me random Pujols cards out of the kindness of your heart.

New PC Acquisitions

Over the last two weeks or so I have received a ton of mail, from trades, for no reason from people, and from eBay bargains. While I am going to have to admit I have no idea who gave me what, or what came from where now, I love it all. In my defense, I always email people to let them know I got stuff.

First I want to thank REALjtCarter, from Twitter for sending me a boatload of Jeter, Bernie, Girardi, and others. The cards were awesome.

beardy sent me some 2004 Finest cards of Jeter, A-Rod and Albert as well as a 2009 Finest Pujols refractor. I already logged all the cards in and put them away and I am too lazy to take them out and scan them.

Two 2009 Sweet Spot cards that I traded some Ballpark relics, and something else. I remember when I opened the dual relic I had no idea why someone sent it to me for no reason... took me like an hour to remember where it came from, why and what I sent.


I believe I also traded some game used card or cards for this as well. (Again too lazy to look through my email.)

These I know came from eBay, the Unique card cost a whole 99 cents, and the Bowman's Best was $3.00. I am a big fan of getting a great card for less than the cost of the pack.

The next card I got the first time on eBay, forgot that I won it, paid for it 7 days after the auction and the guy said it's not for sale anymore. He refunded my money, and then re-listed the card (d-bag). Then, Sooz went to the card show in PA and found someone selling the card for $5 so I told her to grab it. It actually saved me a buck by him sending my money back since I would have cost about $6 or so with shipping. When Sooz brought me the card I gave her two options, cash or cardboard (even though I was going to give her both once I got change), and she took cardboard. She got a 2008 Inkredible Kouzmanoff auto and $5. The Kouz auto was supposed to be part of her Christmas gift but I didn't want her to end up buying it before hand.



Sooz also brought me this card that she got doing a box break of 2008 Upper Deck.

Between my birthday and all of these cards, my PC got a nice boost to it and that makes me happy.

Blazing Blue Jays still in first

So far this season the Jays have been a force to be reckoned with leading the AL East going into today by 2 games over both the Red Sox and Yankees. Adam Lind has fallen into the DH role, and part of the reason they have been scoring so many runs. Lind is batting .333 with 3 HR's and 15 RBI's. If someone said a year ago that he would be putting up these numbers within a year, I probably would have laughed. Despite him being pegged as a power hitter, his first call up was a meager display of power. Towards the end of last season he showed more of a spark, so maybe this is the player that the Blue Jays knew he could be and would be eventually.

Now you know I am not going to write a blog about the Blue Jays or Adam Lind without anything to show for it. They aren't some of the better cards of his out there, but these were the most budget friendly right now and I didn't have them.

My Kapler Problem

Everyone has different reasons for collecting certain players. They were your childhood hero or you loved the way they pitch. Perhaps the guy is from your hometown or went to your college. I collect Jeter because I was 16 when the Yankees beat the Braves in 1996 and he became my baseball God.

I collect Kevin Kouzmanoff because he is from Macedonia (or Serbia depending on who you ask) and my family is from that area of the world and I felt a little tie to him because of it.

Gabe Kapler - there is really no good reason to collect his cards other than the fact that I think he is hot. When I had season tickets to the Yankees in Section 39, I used to scream to him like a retard because I thought he was awesome. Well, awesome looking.

My Kapler card collection is up to 70 cards and he is on the bench of my fantasy baseball team, the real fantasy baseball team.

Obviously, I have issues and just thought I would share since I added a ton of cards to my collection today.
