eBayer's Anonymous

Hi, my name is Marie and I'm an ebay-aholic... (everyone: Hi Marie!)

I am always trolling eBay for cards I need and when I saw this one I submitted two offers...  One was a low ball offer in an attempt to steal it.  The second was $3 less than the seller's counter offer at which point I decided $3 won't make or break me so it was a deal.

Since it is one of his rookie cards I needed to have this one, plus it is absolutely one of the coolest rookie patch cards I've seen and definitely the coolest one I own now.

2010-11 Panini Dominion Mammoth patch /25

As a collector it's one of those cards you just can't pass on with such a low serial numbering and a product that is already a few years old.  Odds are against you finding another one...  Speaking of finding another one, I am watching a card right now that is a low serial numbered card but the guy is asking a crazy price.  The last one (which I know now that there was one other on eBay) sold for half of what they are asking.  I offered slightly more than half and now we wait.... Or we get impatient and buy it now and get ripped off just to make sure we get it... Or we take a nap since it's snowing and I am so tired from the gym today...  Decisions, decisions...

As always, let me know if you have any McDonagh cards to trade or just send my way if you are feeling generous...

UPDATE:  The seller of the card I'm stalking bought it on Feb 1 and is now selling it for double... That mother forker!

Who has the best friend ever?

Me, of course.

As a result of Sooz being super busy with work, and me being in school it took us a while to get around to exchanging Christmas gifts. Not this long, but I have been a little lazy on the blogging in case you hadn't noticed.

Sooz always gets me something I want/something I actually like and will enjoy. This present was no exception and is definitely worth showing off on the blog.

2006 Upper Deck Albert Pujols Game Used Patch card.

The card is MOJO! I freakin' love it.

A new-ish card set lost in the hype of Strasburg

Topps announced that Stephen Strasburg will appear in its remaining products this year starting with Allen & Ginter. That's fine. It's good for the industry.

Here's the list of sets he will be included in and I wonder if you balked at the same thing I did:

2010 Topps Allen & Ginter
2010 Topps Complete Sets
2010 Topps Tribute
2010 Topps T-206
2010 Topps Triple Threads
2010 Topps Chrome
2010 Bowman Chrome
2010 Topps Update
2010 Topps Sterling
2010 Bowman Platinum
2010 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects
2010 Bowman Sterling

Wait, wait, wait .... Bowman Platinum? That's not a baseball product, or at least hasn't been. Bowman Platinum is a football product.

Here's what Bowman Platinum for football looks like (link).

This set could include some high-end Strasburg items such as patches and a logoman cards. This is probably a product that is more about the hits than the base cards, so don't get too worried about completing the set.

However, considering there is sometime before this is released and other products to consider, things may change between now and then.

Of other note, interesting to see Bowman Chrome and Bowman Draft Picks and Prospects on the list. This is all early talk, but we've heard rumors of one of their demises recently.

2009: Pujols collection boosted

At the beginning of 2009 I wanted to try and get to 1,000 unique Pujols cards in my PC despite knowing that was a long shot, and would be quite an amazing feat. I believe I started the year around 349 cards or so, which wasn't terrible but was still missing around 65,000 cards according to Beckett (I really hope I'm exaggerating, I don't know how many off the top of my head).

I have just finished logging in all the Pujols cards that have been sitting on my desk, and I have 764 unique Pujols cards to close out 2009. This year has been plentiful for my single card purchases, and terrible for hobby box breaks but it worked out much better. I really think I will continue to steer clear of hobby boxes for the most part in 2010 and use that money to buy single cards for my PC. It is so rare to pull a Pujols autograph that it's almost stupid to waste money trying.

I had a few collection firsts this year as well....

My first 1/1,

patch,

and "on card" auto.

All in all, it was a very good year for me and Albert and I look forward to breaking the 1,000 card mark this year. Thanks to everyone who has traded with me this year, and sent me random Pujols cards out of the kindness of your heart.

Jeter patch: Real or Fake

This Derek Jeter patch card has been on eBay for almost 10 days and ends in a little less than 24 hours (at the time of the post). The card is up to $33.

I had to edit my mistakes. However, I still do wonder if this card is real or not.

I contacted Gellman and he thought this could be a fake. I also contacted Upper Deck, but have not heard back from them about the card.

What do you guys thinks?

My first Jeter patch card

Earlier this year, I had to cover an ARCA (Automobile Racing Club of America) event in one of the towns near me. There is nothing about car racing I like and dreaded having to go to this event for three days.

I wrote feature stories about some of the drivers and then on the final day, it rained. The rain shortened the race and the winner didn't even run the full race and got the win. Fun for him.

I pretty much shook my head leaving the track because I was still trying to figure out how people enjoy watching drivers go round and round. Give the track a little credit because it was a road course and the cars actually turn left sometimes.

On the way back from the race, I saw a tiny little baseball card shop that I didn't know about. I pulled into the parking lot and, luckily, the place was open.

I walk in and look around. It might have been the size of a walk-in closest. There was a counter with cards in the glass case and hobby boxes behind it, just like most other card shops. But it was so tiny.

As I looked through the case, I saw a Jeter patch card. I don't own any.

I asked the price, he gave me one I thought was fair and snatched it up. It's not the best patch (it's numbered /24). There are no cool looking markings. It's just Yankee blue, but I love it anyway because it's mine.

So here's my first Derek Jeter patch card:

The card shop is still a 45-minute ride from my town, so it's as though I can show up whenever I want. However, whenever I need to visit Millville, N.J., I plan on stopping in to browse, and most likely buy.

2007 UD Elements Break

I decided to have some fun and break the free packs of 07 UD Elements from Dave & Adam's tonight since everyone passed out already, and if I opened stuff it means I won't continue to keep eating cookies. I have a real addiction to cookies, it's my kryptonite.

Pack One (The Cal Ripken Pack):

- Albert Pujols !!! (First card I see, yet I already had it =/)
- Troy Tulowitzki Rookie Elements 488/550 (sweet!)
- David Wright

Pack Two (The Derek Jeter Pack):

- Lance Berkman
- Rafael Furcal
- Mark Teahen

Pack Three (The Ken Griffey, Jr. Pack):

- Johan Santana

- Lance Berkman Rare Elements Authentic Dual Patches 26/35 (black & 4 color)

More than happy with my free packs, hopefully the stuff I am getting for Christmas has some cool things to post.

I really had fun with these 3 packs, and I think they are pretty cool. They are even cooler than normal because they were free!

2008 UD Masterpieces Game Used Cards

This is the breakdown of Game Used cards that we pulled from the case, we ended up with 2 Freddy Sanchez and 2 Khalil Greene. The "holy grail" of Game Used cards, and well the case will be posted by Sooz, hopefully later tonight. Probably one of the best cards we'll ever pull. I'm going to do a blog of all the auto's later tonight or tomorrow so everyone can see them. Everything is in the store.

2008 Masterpieces Victor Martinez Patch

This was another sweet looking patch card we pulled from the case. I also scanned the black bordered parallel, which we ended up with two of if anyone is looking for one.

So far, I scanned and listed all of the blue, brown, green, red, and black parallels, as well as all the SP's, auto's and game used cards. Stop by the store if you are looking for the player you collect.
