Taking one for the team

Ever wonder what's in a hot pack on eBay? I may be one of the few and buying one of these packs is also giving the pack searchers fodder for continuing to do so.

However, I just wanted to see. I just wanted to take a shot.

I bought a 'hot pack' of SP Authentic on eBay a few weeks ago. There are five cards in the pack. I actually liked the base cards I got.

I got two Yankees, a soon-to-be Yankee and NiCole Hamels (not scanned). The auto is not really that exciting. Josh Anderson of the Tigers, except he got traded to the Royals last season. He batted .240 last year in 118 games with a home run and 25 RBIs. He also had 25 stolen bases.

That'll teach me to buy hot packs off eBay.

What a game!

All I have to say is, WOW! Sooz and myself, along with my brother and his friend had seats 15 rows behind homeplate last night for Game 2 of the ALDS, Yankees v. Twins. The seats were insane, most of the people were either bored or had no idea what was going on next to us, but we had fun and the Yankees came out victorious.

I know we had good seats for 2 reasons, the first being we were 15 rows from the field, and the second being we were only 2 rows behind Justin Tuck of the New York Giants.

And if we needed a 3rd reason, Donald Trump was about 8 rows in front of us in the moat seats. You can't miss that rug on his head.

The game was great. A-Rod showed up and proved he can play in the post-season, and I guess it's better late than never. It also could be because he missed a month and maybe thinks it's still September (just ask Flash). A-Rod tied the game with a blast, which I don't have a picture of because I was too busy going bananas (B A N A N A S). Then Teixeira came up in the bottom of the 11th and smashed a line drive that hit the top of the wall for a game winning homerun. I am not going to get into the umpires sucking because I don't care anymore.

Ronan Tynan singing God Bless America.
I took some pictures and I figured some of you guys might like to see a different view. We stayed long enough to see the pie and I got a few pics of that, too. The whole stadium stayed for the pie and most of the people were singing 'New York, New York' very loudly. The first picture was blurry because AJ was running out and I was screaming and couldn't stay still.

The view from the platform of the 4 train, right in between the old (left) and new stadium (right).

Looking forward to Sunday's game and the Yankees crushing Pavano. Until then, I will enjoy watching the Dodgers and Cardinals. (Go Dodgers, and go Albert!)

Is it a problem when...

you are folding your clean laundry and notice that you had washed the following items:

(All Yankees team shirts)
- #51 Williams
- #25 Teixeira
- #62 Chamberlain
- #2 Jeter
- #46 Pettitte

- Card Bandits t-shirt
- Gym shorts

I also forgot Ryan Braun who is in the hamper, I'm wearing an Albert Pujols t-shirt, and that's not even all of 'em.

Maybe I like baseball too much... or maybe I just collect t-shirts...

Help with 2009 Pujols

I need the 2009 Topps Heritage chrome refractor of Albert Pujols, so here is what I am proposing.... I have 2 chrome refractors of Pujols from last year, and I want to trade one for this years. This card is not for trade in any other instance, however I need to get my hands on the 2009 card. I am hoping someone out there has a double of this years, or has one they don't care about having to send my way. If you want a different card for it, by all means we can talk.

Now, here is another card I have but want to trade... A Mark Teixeira 09 Spectrum Red /250 (card pictured for your viewing pleasure). Looking for a serial numbered Pujols from this set in return, or even the black or emerald Starquest cards from this year.

There is a card show in my area next weekend, and I am hoping to go to that to pick up a few cards maybe.

Teixeira Press Conference

I don't think I have seen anyone happier than this guy to end up as a Yankee. He was smiling from ear to ear, and just looked like he might burst. Girardi made sure he mentioned, as he handed him his new jersey, that he was a huge Mattingly fan as a kid growing up, and handed him number 25 (which also happens to be Girardi's number as a Yankee player, he now wears 27).

I thought he might have ended up with number 32, but 25 is okay, too. He was very happy answering all questions, and seemed even more excited that playing here meant that his family could see him play more because he is now closer to home.

That's all I have for now, I shut the tv off after Teixeira was done talking.

P.S. I might jump on the bandwagon earlier than I anticipated on this one.

The $180 Million Dollar Man

Look out Yankee fans.... The Yankees have announced that Teixeira's introduction will be today at 1pm. He has gone through the customary physical and now is ready to play with the big boys in the Bronx. Now let's just hope that he can hit in October because he can hit all day and night the rest of the season, with no one on base, or up by 100 runs like some other people- just smash that ball in the playoffs. Yes, I realize he has to hit the rest of the season to get to the playoffs.

Merry Christmas Yankee Fans

You'll find a wrapped $180 million present under your tree in the name of Mark Teixeira. ESPN is reporting that the Yankees and the first baseman have agreed to a eight-year deal.

I can only think of one word to describe this.

SICK!
I know. I know. Some of you were thinking: greedy, selfish, stupid.

The Yankees have forked over some serious dough over the last few weeks to CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett and now Teixeira.

Anything less than a World Series at this point would be a disappointment. A team can't put forth this type of money and on these type of players and not win.

I am a Yankees fan and am very excited over the signing. Who wouldn't be? (Besides Red Sox fans). Last year, left a sour taste in my mouth and it was hard to root for this team when they just seemed to be aging before my very eyes.

Granted, in five or six years I will probably feel the same way again as New York has locked these guys up for some time.

This give Yankees the four-highest paid players in the game right now with Teixeira, ARod, Derek Jeter and Sabathia.
