2010 Topps Series 2 pictures (from Beckett)

Chris Olds over at Beckett had a preview gallery up on his blog yesterday. There were some different aspects to Series 2 over Series 1, but overall there were many of the same inserts.

Here were two of the base cards that I noticed were missing from Series 1.

I like how both my guys are flying through the air and also how Derek Jeter looks like he kicking Shane Victorino in the face.

Two of the new inserts include Vintage Legends where legends appear on cards not from their era. Beckett uses the example of Babe Ruth on a Topps 1999 card or Cy Young on a 1987 card (you can see more pictures at this link).

Topps 2020 is the other insert set,  which has a different feel than a traditional baseball card, according to Olds who broke a box of this stuff.

I guess this is what Topps imagines cards are going to look like 10 years from now (really, I hope not).

Of course, there are going to be rookie redemptions on the set because it's an easy way to get the cards of some of the rising stars in a set without having to commit to them in the first go around.

Topps Series 2 is set to release around May 26.

  1. Baseballcardpedia has May 24, so I got all excited about only having to wait four days. Now that I have to wait six, the sheen is off.

I wonder how early they will release them?

  3. Some people say the 24th while others say the 27th. I guess we'll find out for sure in a few days. I bet we start seeing them appear on eBay over the weekend. I can't wait for my case to arrive!

  4. Call me a weirdo, but I'd like to see more of the 2020 subset. What's with that funky window in the lower right corner?
