Yankees Baseball

Live from Baltimore, Yankees vs. Orioles.

Starting Pitchers: C.C. Sabathia vs. Jeremy Guthrie.

I have some pretzels, and a soda, and I am ready for baseball season. Anyone else out there watching this?

I like how Teixeira got the loudest boos, and he enjoyed it. Take that Baltimore.

Good luck to everyone in the fantasy baseball league, and we will be around so feel free to comment back and forth with us.

Edit: Jeter leads off the game and the season with a single up the middle off Guthrie's leg.

6:06PM Update: This is torture. Pure torture.

  1. I just turned the game on while I'm working at home. Let's go O's!

  2. I've got it on the radio, thanks to my sister's MLB password. Too bad I can't hear a damn thing.

  3. Just saw Sabathia walk in a run - I hope he keeps it up all season :)

How loud will the boos be at the new Yankee Stadium if the $161 million man is a flop?

  4. And just saw Posada's home run too - oh well, at least the bases were empty!

  10. Yeah, you'll have to make the trip to the "New" Yankee Stadium to boo them in person.

  11. Just got back from Camden in what turned out to be a pretty good Opening Day game. It looked like it was going to get out of hand after Sabathia did his best David Wells circa 2007 impression, but the Yankees made a good game of it until some late inning herOics, if you will. A pre-game downpour begat nice game time weather begat surprisingly cold and windy conditions as soon as the sun went down. The Teixeira boos throughout the game were thoroughly enjoyable for all involved. For Marie: the Yankees will be fine, and can spare giving the fans of Baltimore one of the few moments of joy that they'll experience this season. I also realized today that I don't hate the Yankees as much as I thought. I didn't really dislike them at all. In fact, realized that the Red Sox and their fans are much more irritating in the current day and age. Oh the things you learn on Opening Day!

  12. LOL @ Dan. We are friendly for the most part. I don't hate the O's but I obviously want the Yanks to win. The fans and their booing was a little much considering Teixeira really was never an option for the O's. They started with a very low bid, then backed out as soon as Boston put one in. Sadly, the game is about money and for him, where Don Mattingly played. Maybe if Donnie was an O things turn out different.

  13. Just got back myself. This is the first O's-Yankees game I've been to where O's fans outnumbered Yankees fans. Not that I hate the Yankees as a team, but their fans have been coming into Baltimore, and taunting us for years every time the O's lose (which has been often in the past 10 years). The atmosphere today was electric, and I for one loved every minute. As for Teixeira, you're right Marie, but he'll still get booed whenever he comes to town. Mainly it just gives the fans something to do. Grand Cards is right on about Red Sox fans being WAY more annoying these days. My efforts to start a Jeffrey Maier chant after Damon got robbed, unfortunately failed miserably.
