Local card shop findings

The past few days I have been MIA from the blogosphere because I went down to stay at Suzy's house for a few days. We had a good time, played some Wii, golfed, his a card shop, and a Target. We can't possibly hang out together for days without going to a Target or a card shop, or both.

The local shop that we went to is more of a store that sells local team merchandise, autographs, and team knick knacks. They have a couple of hobby boxes behind the counter, a few game used cards and autos in a case, and some binders/boxes with cards. Nothing great in the case, so we flipped through a binder and we picked out some cards, well I picked out a bunch- even some for a couple of fellow bloggers in case they needed them. There were no Jeter cards, and very few Pujols in the mix. Not a single Cano either now that I think about it. Long story short, all the cards in the scan cost me $4.25. I think I did ok even if I don't need those M&M Pujols, I couldn't pass them up for 50 cents.

I got a whole ton of trades and things in the mail today. Not going to the post office for a few days definitely paid off for some boredom now that I have no one to play Wii with. (sad face here) I got a bunch of Pujols cards from one of our readers, McCann Can Triple. There was also a random package from Waxaholic which made me happy, as well as a box of OPC goodness from Stale Gum and a sweet package of posters from the National from Dan over at Saints of the Cheap Seats.

While I don't know how I got so lucky to find a great group to trade with and talk to on a somewhat daily basis, but it is awesome and I am grateful for it.

Waxaholic mail day

Well, well, well... it seems as though dear old Captain Canuck from Waxaholic has come through in the clutch here. I received a bubble mailer from him the other day and while walking to my car I heard something moving in it. I was fairly certain it wasn't the cookies he had promised, and was also pretty sure it wasn't a piranha either. Then I thought I knew what it was and got a little anxious to open it.

I ripped open the bubble mailer and much to my delight it was a 2007 Jada Dubs brand Camaro, and it was open so I could wheel it around, which I will not say that I did (I did). I have never had one outside of it's package before and I must say I am now a much bigger fan of this brand of die-cast cars than I was before.

I always knew I would meet a guy who would buy me a Camaro.

Now, as if that weren't cool enough there were cards and packs! I am saving the pack breaks for another time, probably tonight. But I will show you all what I got since I am thrilled with the loot.

2009 Bowman Robinson Cano assortment

2009 Bowman Adam Lind goodness

2009 Bowman Prince Albert

2009 Topps Walmart Albert and Adam

2008 Starquest Albert, and 2008 Baseball Heroes Mauer, Ramirex, and Tulo

2009 Finest A-Rod, and 2001 UD A-Rod

2003 Bowman FY Robbie Cano (don't ya know)
And an assortment of vintage wax for my daily fix. 89 Topps, 91 OPC, and 90 Fleer.
And he said I was hard to shop for?! I think you did just fine there, sir. I sent Canuck some Braves (Boo!) cards and he felt the need to share the joy which is much appreciated. Now if only they made tiny, tiny little Albert figures to put in my Camaro that would be sweet. I should take a picture of Albert who is in my car and travels with me as my silent (the best) co-pilot.
Since me and Sooz were at this AWESOME game, and because we hate the Mets....
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA YEAH!!!!!

Now go visit Waxaholic, he is a nice guy no matter what anyone has to say.... =)

Revenge of the blogs: Charbroiled Chipper

I have this huge Chipper Jones collection. Not willingly, I add. Chipper just seems to be attracted to me. I have probably over 50 of his cards, but not just base. I get tons of inserts, including some not seen often such Pacific Christmas Ornaments.

Waxaholic decided to have fun with a Jeter card and start a small little blog war.

Let's meet one of the Chipper cards:

Hey there, Chipper.

How's it going? What's that? You're feeling a little cold. I know, the northeast isn't warm as muggy Atlanta.

Don't worry. I'll warm you up.

Chipper, it's OK. I'm going to make you nice and toasty. You don't have to worry about a thing. Just stay very still ....

Chipper ...

CHIPPER! STOP MOVING!

There's that's better.

Bye Chipper!
