This is an unconventional contest for us to be a part of but it's for our friend's boyfriend so we'll help. My friend Lisa from Drugstore Divas boyfriend is close to first place in a recipe contest. Contest update for the Brandon Belt auto patch

It took some time to sort through the entries, but I have an update on the results through the first round.

Just one person got every team right in the division series, however three people got all four wrong.

As a reminder of how the scoring works, you got a point if you got the team right and a bonus point if you picked the right amount of games.

To win the card you have to get the most points in the contest we are holding where you predict the World Series winner.

Here are the rules:
1. Pick the winner of every baseball series, including the games the amount of games it will take for a team to win the series (example: Yankees beat Tigers, 3-1).
2. Do this for the Division Series, League Championship Series and World Series.
3. For a tiebreaker: Pick the number of total runs scored in the clinching World Series game.

Point system:
Division Series: 1 point for each winner you get right
League Championship Series: 3 points for each series right
World Series: 5 points for picking the winner
Bonus points: If you get the pick exactly right, you get 1 bonus point. Using the example above, if the Yankees beat Tigers, 3-1, you can two total points for picking the team and the games. But if they win the series, 3-2, you only get one point for getting the team right.

Contest!

Last week Sooz decided to give away a bunch of Topps cards and the response was huge. I also have a stack to get rid of so I am going to do the same, but with a twist.

I have the following cards that will be included:

19 - 60 years of Topps including 2 original backs

18 - Dynamic Duos

11 - Topps 60

The winner will also have the chance to e-mail me their need list for their set. I have a hobby box, plus TONS of cards I have been picking up here and there from 2011 Topps to get rid of so that is an added bonus. I will throw in whatever I have on your need list.

Ah yes, Stephen Strasburg. The young pitcher with a heart of gold - or at least the guy that is able to make some people money.

Strasburg makes his debut tonight for the Washington Nationals when he faces the Pittsburgh Pirates. Does it get any easier than this? He dominated the minor leagues and since the Pirates are really just a glorified AAA team, he will probably dominate them as well.

As we noted yesterday, Topps will make his rookie card available tonight sometime after his first pitch on their Topps Million Card Giveaway site. The codes you have used to redeem cards throughout from Series 1 and 2 products will now give you the opportunity to win the FIRST-EVER (I wish there was a way to make sarcastic lettering) rookie card.

Topps is holding contests throughout the day to win Topps Series 2 product in order to get some of the fancy code cards.

Contest #1 - on Facebook. Make a prediction on Strasburg's line for tonight. Let us know what you picked. We're not giving away anything, I'm just being nosy. I went with six innings, four hits, one earned run, one walk and seven strikeouts. That are he blows his arm out on the first pitch of the game.

Maybe I could finally get the kids involved

One of the new things with Topps Series 2 will be "Make Your Own Sketch Cards," according to a recent post by Beckett.

I'm not a great drawer. I'm not terrible either and have dabbled in it before. However, I don't think I will be taking my time out to create a sketch card for Topps. That's not to say I think this is a bad idea.

I do wonder though how well Topps wants the cards to look. I would love to have my nieces and nephew, who have no interest in sports, but love to color, to draw on these cards and send them in. To me, that seems exciting to them to create a card and get it in the set. Will it be good? Probably not. And for the 4-year-old, I am not sure she would even draw a baseball player.

I think there are some collectors out there who are artistic. We have seen that from custom creations to sketch cards.

I think the next step from this for Topps would be "Create Your Own Set." Imagine some of the talented collectors out there creating their own base design and two to three subsets. Then, getting to see their imagination come to fruition. In this scenario, I don't getting the set would be good enough. Because they had the idea, a monetary prize should be award too.

First Contest of the Year

The conventional contest of giving away cards searching for the answers on the Internet is not any fun. I think this will be a fun way to give away cards, and I can guarantee the end result will be entertaining.

First place: Complete set of 2008 UD Masterpieces (1-90) and three black-bordered Masterpieces cards (or one of three GU jersey cards)

It's great little set for your kids, nieces, nephews, or if you didn't complete a set, here is your chance. You'll get to choose the three cards out of the collection we have of the black-bordered cards.

CONTEST!!! Picture Game

Hi Haters. I know you are all going to get your boxers in a bunch when I saw that I scanned this from (gasp!) Beckett, but this is probably the only thing I can take for what it's worth. I like reading the previews, I enjoy flipping through it, and most of all I only bought it because Albert is on the cover. There is a short article on his chances of winning the triple crown, and I will read anything about him really. So if you don't want to play, you don't have to.

Here is a fun little game. Since I know pretty much all of you don't read or buy Beckett I am going to offer a prize for the first person to get at least 6 correct answers. The prize will be a game used card from my pc (Yankees are not an option here) or you can have an A-Rod hater t-shirt.

Contest: What do I collect other than baseball cards?

Let me first start by saying that over the years there were a great number of things in addition to baseball cards that I thought would be fun to collect. You will either be surprised by some of these things, or not even bat an eye. I collected everything from TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), G.I. Joes, Starting Line-ups, comics, pogs (I hope someone else knows what they are), Simpsons figures, WWF magazines, etc. Obviously all of these things were over the course of my childhood when every kid goes through phases of things they like.

As an adult, I have mainly stuck to baseball cards and one other area. I sampled trying to go back to comic books, and stopping by the local shop every week or two and buying only first issues of whatever had come out, bagging it and putting it away. That got boring in a month or two and I was done with that again.

The one other thing I still collect I have been buying for about 6 or 7 years now, and I have a decent sized collection of about 300 or so. To make things interesting I am going to leave this up to you guys to guess what it is. Here is your incentive to guess: The winner will get a double from my collection OR their choice of a card of their team or player. I have plenty of doubles from both my card collection as well as my other collection.

The one hint I am giving is that this collection is very specific, like a player collection as opposed to a team collection except of something else.

A Small Request

Would it be asking too much for drug stores, gas stations, and supermarkets to carry baseball cards? After going to all Targets within a reasonable driving distance, my job (which was only to return keys, but that's another story), I really feel like once those stores close there needs to be something in case you are having a wrapper attack. That's what I might call it, a wrapper attack. I think it was McDonalds that used to advertise a Big Mac Attack, not to be confused with McDowells from Coming to America because they had the golden arcs, not the golden arches if you recall.

I did make a small, insignificant purchase earlier but told myself I had to wait until everything closed to be able to open said purchase in case I got nothing good I would not be able to buy anything else. I keep telling myself I am not going to buy anything until Heritage comes out, but I am itching to open things. It really is a problem. Does anyone else know of any places that are open 24 hours with baseball cards?

P.S. If anyone needs a Christmas gift for me, that picture in real life on my driveway would be super. Then we could have a giant blog party opening all of it, promise.
