Pictures from Yankees 2010 Opening Day

Here are some photos I took at the Yankees home opener on Monday, which includes parts of the ring ceremony.

This last picture is of the guy who caught Nick Johnson's home run ball. It hit two rows in front of our seats and then bounced to go a guy in the row behind us and about three seats away.

Today's the day and a homework assignment

I feel like every other team has had their opening day already, but today is the Yankees turn.

Marie and I are going to in attendance and, thankfully, I'm going just for fun. This is my third opening day this year. Yeah, I know, tough life I lead.

Hopefully, when we get back we'll have some photos to share with you guys.

Also, don't forget to check out Twitter. I am sure Marie and I will have some commentary as well as photos throughout the day. That's if the cell service isn't too bad at Yankee Stadium. Last year was terrible when trying to tweet. Don't the Yankees know I have to keep in touch!

Here's the homework assignment. It was announced earlier this morning that
Panini is going to develop new distribution procedures. I read it, but since I am running on about three hours of sleep right now, I don't fully understand.

Can someone break this down for me and make it a little dumber. I ask because I think I am misunderstanding what I am reading. I am curious as to how this effects a place like Blow Out Cards. I thought they were both a retailer and a distributor, but I could be wrong.

I'm not looking for a 500-word assignment. Just break it down for me in roughly three sentences.

Cliff Lee Opening Day Error Follow Up

Just to let you all know there are now 60 different auctions for the Cliff Lee Opening Day card, and since last night they seemed to have dropped off to ending between $8-$15 dollars. Way to oversaturate the market all you guys that open cases (ahem, tntnorthnj who has about 20 up).

Good old eBay

Sometimes eBay is the root of all evil, and then there are times like today where you thank God for crazy people. Remember last week when Sooz posted about a Cliff Lee card with an error? Well... everyone was talking about this card this morning, apparently it was selling for around $50 on eBay.

I bought a couple of packs a week or so ago, put them in a pile and hadn't gone through them again... until this morning. I figured for around $50 I can take 5 minutes to check my stack of Opening Day. Lucky for me, I had one of the cards. I scanned it, wrote a small description, and put it on eBay. After listing it, I went to buy some lunch, ate and sat around reading the paper for a bit. When I went back to my computer before leaving for class the card sold and was paid for. Not bad for a card that came out of a dollar pack.

I figured I would share the fortune, and tell you guys to check your Opening Day cards and see if you can flip this "error" card into a hobby box of something or a bunch of singles.

First Look: 2010 Topps Opening Day

This is a first and last look at these cards. I grabbed 10 packs in the interest of the loyal readers, because we all know I don't enjoy ripping packs. The packs are still 99 cents this year, with 7 cards per pack. I could swear in years past you got 10 or 12 cards per pack, but what do I know (too lazy to look).

I didn't scan all the base cards because if you have seen 2010 Topps Series 1, then you have basically seen 2010 Topps Opening Day. Card stock and quality is identical, the only difference is the Opening Day logo. I scanned some of the base cards, and all inserts. Lucky person who gets to read this before everyone else can redeem my ToppsTown codes and let me know what I missed out on since I couldn't care less to do it myself.

This may have been the coolest looking card out of all of them, a Roy Halladay 2010 Topps Attax
. It is on a rainbow type card, and it is just awesome looking. They should do a real set on that background.
