Gypsy Queen "Scan" Artists

Topps had to have seen this one coming, and if they didn't they are going to be bombarded with all kinds of non-sense. I will not say if I think they deserve it based on the fact that they did not include what was supposed to be in the boxes.... however....

Now we are stuck with people like this Kill Joy who are going to make this whole process take that much longer for people who want the cards. As of right now there are only one of these auctions up.

That being said, I will be here later organizing the cards into another box and prepping our codes to send out immediately to avoid delays.

You have been warned.

Hobby Box Break: 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen

So me and Sooz went to the card shop and decided to open a few packs.... well, 21 to be exact. We got a little carried away (her more than me). Anyway, out of those packs here are the hits we pulled, pretty amazing.

Homerun Heroes

Game Used

Ryan Braun mini sepia

Jewel card

What do you guys think?!! We'll be back at 9pm on UStream to break the case. Card Bandits on UStream

Important Info about Gypsy Queen

I just received an e-mail from Topps informing us that there has been an issue with the distribution of relics and autographs in the hobby boxes. Here is what Topps has advised customers to do.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The much anticipated 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen Baseball officially streets today (4/27) and overall the product looks great, but it has come to our attention that not all hobby boxes include the originally solicited 2 Autograph & 2 Relic guarantee (some contain 3 Relics & 1 Autograph). Any customer missing an autograph from their box will be taken care of. Please mail in the box’s UPC code to Topps to receive a Gypsy Queen replacement autograph card.

2011 Topps Gypsy Queen Break Time

The day we have all been waiting for is finally here. We will be going to pick up the case this afternoon.

I am thinking we will do the break around 9pm tonight. Sooz is coming over to join the fun so you guys will be stuck with both of us. Hopefully I can clear enough room on my desk to accommodate the break, otherwise we are in trouble.

If that time doesn't work for you please let us know.

B2B Connection

So now that you made it to the blog I bet you are wondering what the hell is a B2B connection. Well, I am getting bored with the term 'mail day' or whatever, so I came up with this. I shall dub this 'Blogger 2 Blogger' because it sounds different. I can also say that I will probably forget about it by the next time someone sends something, so I will enjoy my (un) clever name for now.

I got a package in the mail today from Field Level View, which included all kinds of good things. Jason had been making a nice pile of cards for me, some of which I was aware of, others came as a total shock. I think I may have forgotten about some and honestly that made opening this bubble mailer way more fun.

Take a look at my newly acquired loot and feel free to tell me which was your favorite.

Some sweet Yankees from the 2010 Bowman Platinum including Gary Sanchez, Jesus Montero,
Slade Heathcott
, and Austin Romine. All of which I would love to collect but can't afford any new endeavors. So if anyone pulls any cards of these guys, feel free to send them my way or we can work out a trade.

Pujols Diamond Anniversary

Pujols, Dunn, Votto gold card

Some Yankee prospects from 2010 Donruss Elite Extra Edition

2010 Donruss EEE Gary Sanchez This kid may be the one that I would most like to collect if I hit the lotto. His cards are pretty damn pricey and so far with good reason. Let's hope he keeps hitting the ball as well as he has been as he moves up in the minors.

Nice cards, right? They sure are, but there were WAY cooler mojo cards in the envelope. I suppose you will want to see what they were, yes? OK, I won't keep you in suspense any longer.

2010 Donruss Elite Ben Gamel auto /50
He was born in 1992, that is enough to make me feel ancient. I will have to put on my reading glasses and do some research on this little tyke. I do like that the auto is a die-cut. Not too often we see them anymore.

2010 Donruss Elite Ron Blomberg auto /299
Love it! I am a big fan of any Yankees autos, especially of the old timers. He could probably be Gamel's grandfather...

2010 Bowman Sterling Albert Pujols/Ichiro dual game used jersey card /199

Well, I think it is safe to say that I absolutely love the dual relic card. I'd like to think of it as a quad relic. The other cool thing is that Albert's side is not white or gray. I am sick of only having white or gray swatches of anyone, unless they are dirty white or gray swatches then I will love them as much as a patch.

eTopps: 4/25-5/2

This week eTopps is offering a couple of cards that I thought you guys might be interested in. Here are the pics, they don't look too bad either. They should be live at 1pm EST.

Roy Halladay

Michael Pineda

Zack Britton

I don't think I will be picking any up this week, but I am sure I know one blogger who will be going after that Halladay. (ahem, Things are Funner Here)

Sunday Question

This week we will be breaking a case of 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen which I am super excited about. Following that I have a case of 2011 Topps Series 2 Jumbo for the blog, and also another break running through our Facebook friends for all the friends of the Card Bandits. If you are looking for a team that is taken on the blog break, please grab it on the Facebook break.

So we have those to look forward to and that's awesome. I like doing the case breaks because then we can all get the cards we want of our teams and players without spending a ton ripping wax or buying singles. Plus, you can always trade with the people on the breaks to complete sets which makes life easier for everyone looking to build a set.

I was looking on Blowout Cards site at the 2011 Topps Lineage case, and it seems pretty damn cool. There are 3 hits per box including at least one on card auto. The cards are basically reprints of old cards but signed versions. Obviously we all hope there are no 1987-1991 cards in there.

That leads me to my next obvious Sunday Question....

What do you think of this set? Is this something you would be interested in buying a team in? (Please don't tell me what team you want because it won't matter until we figure out if we are doing it.)

It looks like it could cost per team roughly the same amount (probably around $5-$10 more) as Gypsy Queen which isn't too terrible. It may be a few bucks more because I will more than likely eliminate the Royals and Pirates unless someone is willing to take them.

Keep in mind, I need to fill the Series 2 break before committing to anything else so maybe you guys could ask around and try and get some friends to jump in that break and then we can get this one rolling.

I am including the product info here to save you time, but if you want to see the sell sheet images or a checklist click over to Blowout here.

Configuration: 10 boxes per case. 24 packs per box. 8 cards per pack.

Hobby Box Break and Review: '10-'11 Panini Classics

This might have been the most fun box of cards I have opened in months. It might have had one of the single best pulls I could have asked for out of a box of basketball cards. I should hug Panini for sending this box to review.

Let's get right to it. The '10-'11 Panini Classics hobby box contains 18 packs with 8 cards per pack. According to Blowout Cards each box should also contain:

- 2 Autographs (including 1 Autographed Rookie #'d/699 or less) and 2 Memorabilia Cards
- At Least 1 Legend (#'d/999) per Box
- At Least 12 Inserts per Box

My first pack was a little annoying, I had tweeted that I pulled 2 LeBron James base cards. Upon further inspection, one was a Timeless Tributes card, and the other the base card. So that was kind of a relief. A double in the first pack would have worried me for the rest of the box.

Here are the scans of the loot in the box.

Sample of what the base cards look like. For those interested in building the set, it can be done with one box if you are just looking for the 100 card base set. The Legends cards are 101-140 and are short print serial numbered cards.

I was able to put together one base set, and have 28 doubles left over.

LeBron James Timeless Tributes /250

Chris Webber Legend /250

Jerry West Legend/999

Classic Combos Magic Johnson & James Worthy. I like this idea and the design looks kind of retro so that makes this a fun card. At least to me it's fun. It also makes me feel old to see players in a "classic" product that I watched as a kid.

Classic Moments Kevin Durant

Classic Greats Walt Frazier, he's stylin' and pofilin'. I may save this card to give my brother since he seems to find humor in the ridiculous things that fly out of his mouth on the Knicks games.

Dress Code
- Dwayne Wade and Andre Iguodala

Blast From the Past
- This is my personal favorite sub set in the product. There's just something about these cards that really appeals to me and for some reason they make me think of my Adidas superstar sneakers of the good old days.

Dress Code Prime Jason Kidd patch /25 The patch is technically 3 colors, you can see the turquoise color next to the white stripe... if you look very closely. Love this card, mostly because it is not just a boring plain swatch but the piece on the card is from the jersey lettering and it feels cool.

Membership Kevin Johnson /499
The design for this relic set is boring to me. It looks like those cards from the Topps America or whatever stupid set they put pieces of the space shuttle in. This card reminds me of the card I pulled with a piece of spaceship. Sorry Panini, this one is a dud.

I think this is definitely worth point out: the autographs are all on card. There are no silver stickers, there are no stealth clear stickers. Ink on card. I think the design of the autograph cards suits the set well, and also leaves plenty of room in case a player has a crazy big signature or a crazy long name.

Rookie Autograph Larry Sanders /699

Rookie Autograph Landry Fields /699

Rookie Autograph John Wall /199 Oh snap! A nice John Wall ON CARD auto just for me!

Overall this product delivers plenty of bang for your buck. (Especially when you end up with an extra hit.) For roughly $81.99 per box you are guaranteed 2 game used, and 2 autos plus a variety of serial numbered inserts. You are also coming away with a complete base set, plus extras to trade away. Throw in that the autographs are on card and not stickers or redemptions and Panini has themselves a winner with this product. I'm sure there are redemptions in the product as a whole but I'm basing this all on my experience.

If you have made it this far into reading the review you have earned the chance at a reward. Every person who leaves a comment on what they think of the product will be entered into a drawing to win the base set of 100 cards, plus the 2 Legends. Entries will be accepted from today until Wednesday at midnight.
