Maybe it's just me ...

A buddy of mine opened a box 2010 Topps Triple Threads and shared the break with me in some pics. He got a pretty nice haul with an Albert Pujols relic card and an auto/bat card of Stan Musial.

But I kept looking back at the Pujols cards. Every time I read it, I chuckled to myself because I'm really just an immature kid who can't find the time to grow up.

If you read that and don't know what I'm talking about then I suggest you move on. Prince Albert is a term for a male genital piercing. Then, my mind went other places, but that's for the XXX-rated blog. This isn't the first time this nickname has been used, so maybe the designers didn't really think about it in the way my perverted mind went.

If you were a trading card designer, would you try to put suggestive comments or pictures on items and see if they would make it through?

I know Disney items are famous for this kind of thing, including The Little Mermaid cover where a piece of the castle was shaped like a penis.

2010 Topps Triple Threads cards sprinkling on eBay

As of 10 a.m. this morning, there were very few auctions of 2010 Topps Triple Threads baseball cards. One of them Marie is going to be very interested in, just not the price.

There is a different design than in year's past with more vertical cards. But there are still some cards with the JEJGEGE spellings. Certain cards I just had no idea what they were trying to say.

What do you guys think of the new design? Do you like them. Is it a step in the right direction.

- Casey McGehee auto/jersey /50
- Adam Lind auto/jersey /99
- Phil Niekro relic /27
- Monte Irvin relic /18
- Johnny Bench green parallel /240
- Derek Jeter "The Captain" Anyone want to get this for me?
- 2010 Stephen Strasburg auto/relic /99
- Triple auto David Wright, Ryan Braun, Matt Holiday

2010 Bowman Chrome Teams

We're approaching the end of the month and I need to know who is definitely taking their team and I need to have the payments in this way if there are any unpaid teams I can open it up to people who want one. There is a waiting list for several teams so that is why I am trying to get everyone who is on board to speak up and cough up the dough.

Teams are $31 per team, with all USA cards and dual autos going into a random drawing among the teams who did not pull anything higher than a blue refractor.

To see the teams that are definitely claimed, just click here.

The teams with the first crack are the ones who participated in the 206 break, if those people can let me know if they are keeping their team or not it would be great.

I'm also toying with doing a pre-order for 2011 Topps baseball..... but first things first. We need to fill this one.

This video always makes me laugh

Marie showed me this video a few years ago. It always makes me laugh.

Topps puts out a new refractor variation

As I looked through auctions of 2010 Topps Finest last night, I came across this Brett Favre refractor /10. All I knew at the time is that it was shiny and colorful, but I had no idea what to call it.

The more I searched eBay, I came upon this auction.

Now, we have a name.

Mosaic. (Anyone else feel like we're still watching FlashFoward).

They're definitely interesting cards, but I feel I would have to see one in my hand to have a good opinion on the card. However, I kind of like it in a psychedelic, tripping-on-speed kind of way.

I see other mosaic refractors, I will list them here.

1990 Topps George Bush card hits the auction block

In the 1990s, cards were mass-produced. Everyone still has a huge baseball collection in their basement waiting for the value to go up.

Few of the cards to come out of the era are worth a great amount of money, but one of them is up for auction with Huggins & Scott Auctions - 1990 Topps USA George Bush #USA1

The auction for a PSA-graded card started on Sept. 15 with an opening bid of $900. It will end on Sept. 29.

According to the auction description, the George Bush card is only the third card to be graded by PSA. Beckett grading services have just had two come across their desk, according to the site’s population report.

My favorite part of this card is the beck. Home: 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington, D.C.

The blog USA Future Watch  has done some interesting research on the card. Check out their blog.

2010 Donruss Extra Elite Edition checklist

Panini released the checklist for 2010 Donruss Extra Elite Edition (link).

EEE could be in the final year of its release since the CLC license expires at the end of the month.

What should be noted is that there is no Bryce Harper in the checklist, just some 200 or more other athletes.

Also in the set is a Pamela Anderson - Pepperdine card (Every time I say her name it's in Borat's voice). She also has an autograph in the set.

eTopps Football 9/20-927

This week's eTopps football cards are definitely worth mentioning around here.

They are offering the following cards:

Tim Tebow

Peyton (Manningbowl 2k10 champion) Manning

Jahvid Best RC

The cards should be available at 1p.m. EST. There are also come nice Peyton Manning from past eTopps sets around to pick up if you don't get to your computer in time to pick up a 2010.

Sunday Question

With baseball's regular season winding down, who do you think is going to take make the playoffs?

This week there are some very interesting series, including the Phillies and Braves meeting Monday-Wednesday.

Here are my predictions:

AL East: Yankees
AL Central: Minnesota Twins
AL West: Texas Rangers
Wild Card: Tampa Bay Rays

NL East: Philadelphia Phillies
NL Central: Cincinnati Reds
NL West: San Francisco Giants (this is the hardest division to predict)
Wild Card: Atlanta Braves
