Trade with Cardboard Junkie

As many of you know a trip to K-Mart a while back landed me a '34 Goudey buyback of Baxter Jordan. dayf from Cardboard Junkie e-mailed me about trading it to him and I was willing to entertain trading it since it really didn't do much for me, other than look cool and end up a trophy pull from a blaster.

I was offered a boatload, and by boatload I mean over 40 YSL cards PLUS a Pujols GU jersey card for the '34 Jordan, some cards to help him complete a set and some Braves that he was interested in (at least I think that's how this went down). dayf was also kind enough to throw in some free Pujols cards that are making new friends here on my desk for now.

Thanks dayf this trade got me a few centimeters closer to that far, far away finish line on the YSL set.

P.S. I opened the 2009 Topps Series 2 packs and they were uneventful, which was more or less expected after the luck on the Goudey. Stay tuned.

Is this necessary?

I know we already talked about the first guy to complete the YSL set, but did we know he was getting his own baseball card because of it? I saw this on a press release today and shook my head.

Upper Deck has recognized Baxter's feat by producing a special "Historic First" insert card of Tommy and his YSL cards that will be part of the company's fast-approaching 2009 Upper Deck Series 1 Baseball release. The product is scheduled to reach store shelves on Feb. 3, 2009.

Piles and Piles of Cards

Am I the only person that is constantly opening packs, blasters, boxes, etc. and just piles them up and swears they will get logged in and put away later and never does? I am trying very hard to sort my desk out, and it is just not going well. I want to open more blasters but I am out of room.

I just logged the Pujols cards that have been sitting here, and I am now up to 354. Hardly seems like much in comparison to how many cards are out there of him. I have most of his 2008 cards, and 2007. What I am really interested in trading for are his earlier cards, not just rookies.

I logged in the YSL cards that were here bringing that total to 638 for now... I found a seller on Beckett with a great deal of them for 90 cents, so I bought every one that I didn't have, which was roughly 30 cards.

Cleaning this up is like a never ending project. I'm not really sure if I want to log in the cards I don't want for the sake of knowing what I have available for trades, or just label the boxes and look when asked.

Any suggestions on how to organize the trade pile? (Please say it will be fast.)

Random Thoughts for Today

I will be eventually posting a blog about the Co-Signers, but I was so disappointed in yet another Topps product that I have no motivation to even brag about nothing really. I did send away for my redemption cards, and I am honestly hoping they replace what I got with some other guys because what I got sucked.

On another note, thank you to my friend Vinny who grabbed me 3 packs of Yankee Stadium Legacy cards from Yankee Stadium when they were giving them away. I traded my ticket for baseball cards and it was well worth it. 3 packs of cards, which were ALL different, and better yet, all free. I got a great assortment including Wade Boggs, who is one of my all time favorites despite the fact that he was a Red Sox for all those years.

Another thank you to MPStar for hooking me up with a ton of YSL cards as well, all of the cards still need to be logged in.

P.S. UD Series 2 blasters as well as Bowman 2008 blasters are now in Target. I busted one UD Series 2 so far, and have another as well as 2 Bowman to break. Stay tuned because the blaster of UD2 was more exciting than the Co-Signers.
