Spring Fever pack full of stars, just none I collect

Yes, spring is finally here.

That means plenty of baseball cards to start hitting the market. Along with that is Topps’ Spring Fever promotion. This year, collectors can get the cards by going to a card shop and purchasing 16 or so packs of Topps Series 1.

Or, you can go to an awesome card shop.

I managed to get some Spring Fever cards. While they look like last season’s cards, there is a holofoil type of sheen to them, which makes them much better looking in person than they are in the scans.

Of course, I didn’t pull a Derek Jeter card. Instead, I got some of these other guys. I am definitely not complaining about the players I pulled from the silver packs. 

I did manage to get a former Yankee. Seeing Robinson Cano in another uniform still stings. He's a great player and Brian Roberts just doesn't stack up. 

This wasn't the only photoshopped card in the batch. There is no way Topps managed to get the pictures of these players so quickly. Here's Prince as a Texas Ranger.

Along with the Trout, I did manage to get a player that didn't need any new uniforms. 

Those palm trees look good right about now.

This might be the last Upper Deck pack I buy

Last week when the news hit that Topps was granted an exclusive MLB license, I lamented over losing UD. It had its faults, but so does Topps.

While at Wal-Mart, I looked at the baseball card aisle and decided to splurge $20 on a 2008 Sweet Spot packs (blaster?). You really only get one pack with a guaranteed game-used jersey or autograph inside.

I figured if I was going to buy something of Upper Deck, I would go out with a bang.

It's not this exact card. I borrowed this picture from eBay because I hate scanning cards, but I received a similar Clayton Kershaw autograph numbered to /50. It wasn't the Derek Jeter autograph I hoped for, but this was fun too.

Red Hot Rookie Redemption In Hand!

After over a year of waiting, there were two Tri-Star fulfillment envelopes in my mailbox today. Red Hot Rookies number #11 Clayton Kershaw, and #14 Pablo Sandoval have arrived and are pretty sweet looking. I scanned both the front and back of each card to show everyone what they finally ended up looking like after all this waiting and anticipation. Simply stated, they are really nice Topps Chrome refractors. I like them because they are un-like all the other cards out there. I'm going to hold onto them for a bit and decide if they are worth trading, at least I think that's what I am going to do.

What sets these cards apart from other rookies is that they are alot harder to find, and they are different than your average rookie card. Probably would have been a cool idea to continue these from year to year, but with the length of time it took them to deliver on them I can see why they are not doing that. I think Kershaw is going to be a great pitcher, and I have also heard great things about Sandoval from fellow bloggers as well as from reading stuff. I don't think I did terrible on these two guys.
