The best part of it is obviously these were all cards I needed, and didn't have to pay for!! Well, and another good thing is that I got rid of a bunch of Red Sox cards. Yeah!!!

6 Packs of 2008 Topps Heritage

I swore off baseball cards, and as usual it lasted 24 hours. But, in my defense it was not 08 UD Series 1 or 08 Topps Jumbo's. Here are some of the cards I got, though some of these aren't worth mentioning I decided to filter them once I got lazy with the scanning.

I would also like to note how off center almost every card I got was, especially the Jeter card. I got a black back Cano, Kouzmanoff, Martinez (Pedro) others aren't worth mentioning really.

Me and Sooz were talking about this earlier today, and though many people would think I have pulled a bunch of great cards, none could compare to this one. This one wins in my collection by far.



I have a couple of other favorites, but this is the best one.

08 UD Hobby Pack Fun

As promised....

OK, so it took way more money than it should have for a $2.00 value base card of Pujols, but the ride was fun.

For $20.00 worth of hobby packs, I got everything I would have gotten from a blaster essentially. Yahoo!!!

Blaster Addiction

Hi, my name is Marie, and I have a baseball card addiction.

I just busted open another 08 UD Blaster from Target and I have to say I am pleased. I pulled a Roy Halladay Jersey card, 2 Yankee Stadium Legacy cards, Jeter, and Tino. The Halladay card had a crease across the D with the jersey in it, I don't know if it's from the jersey piece, or just pack damaged like most of the Starquest cards.







Starquest cards: Common- Hafner, Howard, Magglio Ordonez, Peavy, Reyes, Santana, Soriano, Thome. Un-Common David Wright, and Rare Brandon Webb.

Base bonus: Joba, Hughes, Ian Kennedy, Pettitte.

Again, all but the Yankees are available for trade or sale.

No Pujols base card. I just felt like saying it, even though you all already knew that.

I think I may be done with the blasters of the 08 UD because I bought one of the Pujols jersey cards on eBay, and I can buy the other on there as well. Perhaps a couple of hobby packs at some point, but for now I am going to wait for the Heritage boxes I pre-ordered, and maybe a blaster or two of Opening Day.

2008 UD Starquest

I just ripped a 2008 UD Series One blaster from Target, and almost every single Starquest card I got was pack damaged. The foil was chipped on all of them except the Un-Common Ichiro. Game Jersey card was Jaques Jones. I also pulled 2 Yankee Stadium Legacy cards, Game 3117 Whitey Ford, and Game 3092 Moose Skowron.









Not one Yankees base card in the box. And, of course no Pujols. The search continues.

2008 Topps Series One Hobby Box, The Second...

You are probably wondering how on earth I opened another box of these cards after the news of the first box. Well, I bought both boxes as pre-sales before having any knowledge of what could be in them, or in these 2 instances, what wasn't in them.

Although there were no GU or AU's in this box, I did fairly well on the Mickey Mantle cards, and the TCH subset.

For anyone who pre-ordered boxes of Topps Moments and Milestones, the date has been pushed back today from Feb. 21 to March 5th as of today. Topps Heritage is still on schedule as of right now to be released on Feb. 27

For A Snowy Day

It's been snowing for a few hours and I have a cold. So, I figured there was no better thing for me to do but go to Target and get a blaster of Upper Deck Series 1. I know it's not exciting because it's a cheap base set, but I actually like these cards this year. I enjoy getting the little inserts and the fact that the box has one game-used card in it helps out.

I also picked up 2 rack packs just for the Hot Commodities, and I got Pujols, Lincecum, Jeter, and Verlander. In those rack packs I got Yankee Stadium Legacy Game 3083 - Roger Marie, and Game 5248 - Jim Leyritz.

Overall, I think the UD blasters are well worth the $20 bucks considering you are guaranteed a GU card, and you get a bunch of other cool inserts.

Random Baseball card thoughts

I'm still extremely pissed off about last nights box break. I decided to hit the local Target's today to see if they had any Upper Deck blasters, and still nothing. No rack packs, no packs, no blasters, and no fun. I've seen a couple on eBay, but not many. I am wondering where they all are, because I desperately need one.

I am toying with the idea of running to BC Sports right now to open a few packs. At the same time, I am also trying to talk myself out of it.

Anyone out there know if their local Target has any 2008 blasters in yet? I need a fix, help me out.

2008 Topps Hobby Box Break

WARNING!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! This was the absolute worst box I have ever opened in my life. I am so disappointed a pissed off. There were no AU's or GU's in the box. There were also no black cards.

I did get a few cards that I collect which was great, but still did not make the break as fun as others.

The two of us together are dangerous. She goes and does some research and finds a super rare error card, and it wound up costing me $20. I know it's not her fault, but I have a problem that I have yet to figure out. I am either allergic to money, or addicted to opening packs like its crack.

Upper Deck's Clinton Blunder

Upper Deck had a clever idea when it came to its political cards. Rather than just have a regular photo giving card lovers a regular card, Upper Deck produced illustrated parodies of the nominees. Most were funny, except one.

Upper Deck didn't think about it until the cards were already in the packs, how a picture depicting Hillary Clinton as Morganna, The Kissing Bandit would be offensive. I get that there are no women in MLB, but what about women who played baseball. A League of Their Own is a popular movie, it's not as though no one would have thought of it.

This card is rarer than the other presidential cards (1 in 8 packs) because after printing some felt the card would be offensive. So they pulled the card manually from packs, but some cards have made it into circulation. These cards are fetching a hefty price tage. We're talking four figures here -- $1,500-plus.

Upper Deck plans to have another Clinton for Series II in May. With the way Obama has taken over, who knows if she is going to still be a candidate.

The one I would like to get is Rudy Giuliani playing the role of Jeffrey Maier.

I'm annoyed at Upper Deck because they never give me anything good in hobby boxes. Someone might think I got something good here, but I don't. The auto isn't half bad, and I got a couple of good base cards, just not the only one I wanted- Pujols.
